Call it an Internship, summer clerkship, seasonal clerkship, work experience, industry-based experience, it doesn't matter. What does matter to us is giving you a minimum period of 2 weeks of hands-on experience.
You will be working within our teams, providing assistance with research, document creation, and many other tasks as required. This experience allows you to understand the workload and expectations of a junior lawyer with Heinz Law.
This is usually conducted over Uni breaks and summer holidays.
Eligibility:
- You must be in your penultimate year of study (or completed your studies)
Attributes required:
- Marks - you are doing a Law Degree you are clearly smart, all we care about is how you apply those skills, not if you got a HD, D or C.
- Culture fit - while we are professional in our business, we are laid back in our culture - we are not clock watchers, and our Partners maintain an open-door policy.
- Humility - let your work speak for itself. As a clerk, you must be prepared to start at the bottom.
- A helpful team player - any graduate can do the job, so set yourself apart from the rest.
- A desire to work and live regionally.
What's next after your work experience:
Your work experience gives us an opportunity to evaluate your long-term fit with the firm. If all goes well you may be offered;
- A Supervised Legal Traineeship (SLT)
- A casual paralegal role with the firm
- A casual role assisting with ongoing projects
When to apply:
- We aren't constrained by dates or deadlines, we want the right people whenever and wherever we can find them.
